I love climbing mountains. Whether it’s straight up vertical rock faces, or along steep winding trails, there’s nothing quite like reaching the summit after a hard-fought climb. What most people don’t realize, is that the journey to the top of a mountain is a lot like the journey towards retirement. It requires careful planning, countless adjustments along the way, and a lot of hard work. It’s also important to have effective safety measures in place because we all understand that the pace of change is only increasing. As such, I enjoy sitting down with people and asking the tough questions to gain a clear understanding of where they are today, and where they want to be at retirement and beyond. From there, I develop well defined financial plans that are both measurable, and flexible; something that acts like a road map along your journey through life. No two plans are the same because no two people are the same.
I also volunteer my time and skills as much as I can, primarily to help not-for- profits develop and drive their planned giving programs to make complex transfers of wealth as simple and efficient as possible. Ensuring the organizations I work with have the education and processes in place to facilitate this is of the utmost importance to me. In addition to the planned giving initiatives, I volunteer with Elevation Outdoors and JCI Kelowna.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy finding the best trails and climbs throughout BC and Alberta with my spouse Devyn and our dog, Calli. When life pulls us farther away, we love venturing off to places like Ethiopia, Southeast Asia, and Iceland.
